I just got eyelash extensions but I notice mine don't stay on as long as my friend's. What am I doing wrong?

A Extensions, my dear, are good only if you look after them. Aftercare is what extends the lifespan of your faux flutter, so take note of these tips from lash extensions expert Ann Sun of Ann's Beauty Concept.

Don't get them wet

It's imperative in the first three hours after your extensions are attached that you don't wash your face or watch a tear-jerker. The glue needs to dry and set firmly.

Don't rough-handle them

Don't rub your eyes. When you wash your face, use a sponge around the eye area rather than using your hands to splash on water. Avoid using cotton wool as the fibres can get entangled with your lashes.

Always use a Q-tip to remove any make-up residue

Dip it into an oil-free eye make-up remover, then trace it along the lashline to erase the eyeliner or eyeshadow. Do the entire lid next and then cleanse the eye area with a sponge, carefully avoiding your lashes.

Don't sleep face down

This is common sense since it may shift and mangle your extensions.

Push them upwards when they droop

Do this gently with your index finger. Should an extension fall out, use eyeliner - going over the lashline as closely as possible - to fill in the sparse spot. A liquid eyeliner is best, but if you have shaky hands, use a fine-tip brush and trace over the area with a dark eyeshadow in a dot-and-dash movement.
