The date profiling system is the latest in a series of local matchmaking services which have gone online to provide more innovative ways for single Singaporeans to meet and socialise.

Four other sites have already received funding from The Partner Connection Fund for innovative uses of the Internet to provide more networking platforms for busy, working individuals.

Singles can opt to go on a blind movie date (www.gomoviedate.com), look for other like-minded individuals who work around them (www.whoworksaroundyou.com) with the eventual aim of meeting other singles despite work commitments, or log onto virtual chatrooms to socialise, or even play games online (www.eteract.com).

Three sites, Singlesmingle.sg, Eteract.com and Gomoviedate.com are up and ready for use. Members pay a fee to register and sign up for the activities that are conducted. Whoworksaroundyou.com is in its beta testing phase currently and will be ready in Jan 2008.

And to prevent would-be members from exploiting the sites, most site-owners already or intend to run checks on their members' marital status against the Registry of Marriages (ROM) records to ensure they are still single.

New members of these sites will have to wait from 2 days to one week for the details to be verified before they can participate in any of the activities.

Singlesmingle.sg
What is it about: An online homepage that is set up professionals to provide more networking opportunities.
Highlights: Membership benefits are listed on the site - mostly dining privileges. The site also offers assistance to couples who need help with their solemnisation or marriage ceremonies. Requests can be sent it through an online form. There is also a matchmaking service provided.
Activities: All of it are offline at the moment, while the site carries a calendar list of events that are up and coming. The usual speed dating activities and outdoor trips.

What is it about: An online portal that allows busy working professionals to find matches according to working hours, location and personality.

Highlights: Site offers a virtual map to show other members who work in your vicinity. You can send private messages, requests for dates or even flirt with other members.

Activities: Members fill in a questionnaire and the system matches them with someone according topersonality, work location and work hours.
They are then able to 'see' which members work in their proximity via the location map. Members choose to interact and exchange profiles. They are also prompted by the system after a while, if they would like to go on a date together.

Gomoviedate.com
What is it about: An online site that matches individuals to others according to data that they have filled in. After a match is found, interested members can "send" out a movie invitation to the other party.

Highlights: Men or women can send out these virtual movie invitations, but the men must pay for the movie tickets. Parties can also text-message others using the site's messaging system, without having to reveal their mobile phone numbers at any time.

Activities: Capitalises on Singaporeans' love of movies. Once a movie date is set up, both parties will meet inside the movie theatre to proceed with their date. During the whole process, neither party's details are divulged to the other, ensuring privacy and security.

What is it about: An social networking site that allows members to seek out other members in virtual chatrooms or engage in online speed-dating activities

Highlights: Meet other people without having to step out of your own home or office.

Activities: Members get a selection of virtual rooms to chill out at and to meet other people online. They can also opt to play online games with other members or engage in social networking activities.

Wow-her.com

What is it about: An lifestyle portal that provides solutions to queries on love and relationships.

Highlights: There is a range of services from structured lifestyle events for singles and couples, to empowerment courses on communication between men and women. Wow-Her.com also offers a suite of bespoke services such as one-on-one relationship coaching and advice on etiquette and grooming.

Activities: Try out the date profiling system to know your colour personality before going on dates organised by the portal to find your match with more accuracy and efficiency.
