All dolled up

By Daphne Lee

I LOVE shopping. These days it's just shopping for my two girls - one is two years and the other is four months old. I hardly buy things for myself now. Gone are the days when I can't resist a new pair of heels I fancy.

As my world has expanded to include two beautiful darlings, I find my lust for shoes fading.

It has mutated into what I can buy for my daughters. Forget about the diapers and formula milk - I just have the irresistible urge to dress up my two girls.

As a mother I want to doll up my daughters with nice clothes, shoes and accessories. I love to see my eldest one in anything yellow, which livens up her spunky personality.

I buy her tank tops, cotton shorts and she also has a striped Gap dress. There are also seasonal stuff such as capri leggings and denim jeans, a must have.

During the Great Singapore Sale, parents like myself find it hard to walk away from the good buys. It is a good opportunity to buy the expensive stuff at discounted prices.

Toys are one good example. My current target is a beautiful wooden dollhouse that my daughter loves poking her nose into.

Shoes are still at the top of my shopping list. My husband and I jostle with the crowd to see if the girls' tiny feet suit the dainty Mary Janes or rugged Crocs and adidas.

The sporty shoes are our favourite. For the very little one, her feet are cushioned in the cutest floral designs that match her pink rompers.

Shopping is fun, more so when you look at your children glowing and growing up in the things you buy them.

Here are some delectable items that I'm eyeing:
