THE plight of women struggling to have babies, after marrying late, is what prompted the Government's change of heart towards fertility treatments.
This led to its decision to pay for half the cost of Assisted Reproduction Technology treatments but capped at $3,000 per cycle, for up to three cycles.
In disclosing the turnaround, Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan noted that it departed from the old policy of urging couples to have more babies 'if you can afford it'.
