Flights of fancy

French label Agnes b. is certainly going places in Singapore.

Known for its chic apparel and accessories, it opened its first Voyage/la Maison sur l'eau store in Singapore at Raffles City on Dec 11.

The new outlet, which combines the brand's travel-themed accessories line and lifestyle products, brings the total number of Agnes b. shops here to five.

Voyage consists of bags and accessories and makes up 46 per cent of Agnes b.'s total sales here.

At the new concept store, it makes up 70 per cent of the merchandise with prices ranging from $85 for a small leather item such as a coin purse to $795 for a leather bag.

la Maison sur l'eau (French for 'the house on the water') items make up the rest.

The exclusive range previously sold only in Hong Kong consists of lifestyle products like notebooks, passport holders, luggage tags and even cameras.

Prices are lower, starting from $18 for a notebook to $125 for an iPod holder.

To go with the wanderlust theme, a corner of the 1,262 sq ft store is dedicated to an art and photo exhibition featuring works from a different country every three months.

Authentic products and books from that nation retail alongside.

Jessy Chua, a marketing executive of Agnes b. here, says a merchandiser from the French office spends at least a month in the country sourcing for these products each time so you know you're not buying streetside travel souvenirs.

The current exhibition is on Finland, home to Santa Claus, and will run till March.

A trip to this new store sure feels more like a visit to a museum. Very cool.

The Agnes b. Voyage/la Maison sur l'eau store is at 01-26 Raffles City.
