>Makeup removal is a must in every woman's daily skincare routine. As long as one has applied makeup, a good makeup remover is necessary to clean it all off at the end of the day. Although there has been no scientific study to prove its necessity, some women find that they even need to use a makeup remover for sunblock or sunscreen. Failure to remove makeup and dirt properly can result in clogged pores, blackheads and other skin problems over time, while a proper cleansing regime can prevent skin from becoming dull and irritated.
We like Laneige's new Professional Makeup Remover range of products. Consisting of seven different products, formulated to suit different skin types, the Professional Makeup Remover range works to melt and dissolve makeup while cleaning and hydrating the skin at the same time.
If you usually wear only light makeup and hate having to use separate makeup removers and cleansers on a daily basis, try the Multi Cleanser ($33), a 3-in-1 foaming cleanser which removes makeup, cleans and exfoliates the skin simultaneously. It comes in a squeeze tube, and only a little (about 1 cm) of it is needed to cleanse the face. Best for normal-oily skin, this left our skin feeling smooth and refreshed, thanks to ivy extract, vitamin E and mixed fruit AHA.
If you wear heavier makeup or have drier skin, try the Creamy Emulsion ($42, right) instead. This snow-like product melts away makeup effectively, and leaves skin feeling clean, supple and smooth. Just pump out a lychee-sized amount and massage it all over the face before wiping it off with a soft tissue. You can further rinse your face with water, but we found this was not always necessary - this is one of the few tissue-off makeup removers that does not leave an oily film on the skin. Even though it is meant for drier complexions skins, we found that it works just as well on oily skin.
Although some makeup removers can remove lip and eye makeup, it is a good idea to invest in a separate makeup remover which is gentler on the thinner skin in the lip and eye areas. Laneige has two such products ($25 each) to remove regular and waterproof makeup. The trick is to soak a cotton pad with the makeup remover and hold it against the eye and lip area for about five seconds so that it can dissolve the makeup with minimal rubbing.
The Laneige Professional Makeup Remover range will be available at all Laneige counters island wide from July 12, 2008.
