Puffy no more
>Did you know that panda eyes are often a lot easier to camouflage than eye bags?

Usually, all you need to banish dark eye rings is a good creamy concealer. However, no amount of concealer can hide eye bags - you can paint over discolourations on a flat service, but any lumps or protrusions will still be as visible as ever.

For most younger women, puffy eyes are the result of an accumulation of fluid underneath your eyes. This can be caused by fatigue, allergies, poor circulation, smoking or too much salt in your diet. As you age, your skin also becomes less elastic and the delicate area under your eye can start to sag, resulting in eye bags.

If the advancing years are the primary reason why you have bags under your peepers, we are afraid that cosmetic treatments may not avail much. However, if you are still in your twenties or thirties, chances are that your puffy eyes can be minimised with the right eye cream or treatment.

While some women swear by used tea bags and cucumber slices, they are not always practical for busy women on the go who need remedies that do not require any preparation or cleaning up.

If you are one of them, check out these new products which the AsiaOne Just Woman team has found effective in reducing our own puffy, stressed and over-tired peepers.

Pascal Firenze Refreshing Lotion for the Eyes ($59 for 125ml) Laveré Energy Cool Eye ($75 for 7ml roll-on) Derma Genesis Eye Contour Cream ($32.90)
This fragrant lotion is formulated with soothing and moisturising ingredients such as Sodium PCA and Panthenol. Spray a few drops on two cotton pads and leave them on your closed eyes for a few minutes, gently patting the undereye area to relax the eye muscles.

Verdict: Puffiness was significantly reduced within two days of use, even without the use of a separate eye cream. Our reviewer reported that the burning sensation she usually experiences in her eyes after staring at the computer screen for too long also disappeared during the time she tested this product. Eyes feel less tired and more refreshed. We like the soothing, relaxing scent and think this is great for helping you unwind before bedtime.

Pascal Firenze Refreshing Lotion for the Eyes is available at The Make-Up Chain, #01-09 Capitol Building, 11 Stamford Road.
This is meant to firm and invigorate the undereye area, and comes in a unique roll-on vial. This fragrant eye gel is part of LAVERÉ HYDRO, a new line of organic anti-ageing skincare which uses naturally-derived hyaluronic acid as a main ingredient.

Verdict: Eyes feel instantly refreshed, and we like the fact that we don't have to worry about tugging the delicate undereye area with the applicator, which glided smoothly across the skin. One reviewer raved about this and said her eyes felt less puffy than usual.

Laveré Energy Cool Eye is available at PhytoOrganics, #B1-74 Raffles City Shopping Centre.
The latest addition to cosmetic giant L'Oreal's arsenal of products, this eye cream is part of the newly-launched range of anti-ageing skincare products. It contains hyaluronic acid and Pro-Xylane to help preserve cellular vitality and favour the creation of new cells.

Verdict: Results took a while to show, but after two weeks of continuous usage, both fine lines and puffiness under the eyes appeared less visible. We like the relatively light texture of this eye cream which was absorbed into the skin quite well and did not leave a greasy feeling on the skin surface. If you cannot afford the more pricey treatments, this is a good and affordable alternative.

Derma Genesis Eye Contour Cream is available at Guardian Pharmacies and Watsons outlets.
