Even as the jewellery folks at the Singapore JewelFest prepare to show off their precious gold and diamonds at tomorrow's Autumn/Winter Collection at Ngee Ann City's Civic Plaza, there are yet more high-end fashion and jewellery events to divert your attention to.

Fashion & jewellery make stunning debut

I know that designers get inspired by their couture to create masterful pieces of jewellery as an accompaniment to, or an extension of, their couture.. Here is an example of going the other way around - creating a couture dress to unveil Ethereal Dews, Poh Heng's Autumn/Winter signature creation (see main picture above). Made of 115 pieces of 18k yellow gold leaves, 1,087 brown diamonds and 239 white diamonds, this stunner of a choker will debut at the Singapore Jewelfest 2008, with a dress that can be worn two ways to 'unveil' the necklace.

Designed by local designer Keith Png, the dress transforms from a short, gold coat to become a multi-tiered bustier gown of deep flamenco red complete with a full ruffle train, and presents a glamorous juxtapose to the gold choker.

Tiffany & Co unveils a new look

Shoppers would have seen the hoardings that shielded the transformation of the luxury jeweller. At its official opening, guests were treated to two storeys of contemporary dark wood panelling and sleek minimalist interiors. Its reopening also makes Singapore the first in Asia after New York to don the jeweller's new, more modern feel.

Step into the store to experience a different Tiffany, and maybe pick up one or two pieces from their latest holiday collection that features lots of colourful gemstones and cheerful bracelet charms in festive motifs.

Cortina Watch Jewellery Time 2008

Watch collectors will have a ball of a time at this showcase of timepieces.

16 of the world's most prestigious watch brands, Audemars Piguet, Baume & Mercier, Blancpain, Cartier, Chopard, Concord, Corum, Girard-Perregaux, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Milus, Omega, Patek Philippe, Piaget, Vacheron Constantin and Van Cleef & Arpels will be putting on an impressive display of limited edition jewellery timepieces for men and women from Oct 30 to Nov 9, 2008.

And opening the showcase is celebrities Leon Lai and Michele Reis as they walk the red carpet at the opening of Jewellery Time 2008, where the world's finest time creations blend with the art of jewellery.

So if hobnobbing with the moneyed and celebrities is your kind of thing, Jewellery Time 2008 will open tomorrow evening at Cortina Watch Couture Gallery, Atrium 1, Paragon Shopping Centre.
