Deal or no deal: Hot or not?

PERSONALITY. That was the main reason, not brawn why the 26 briefcase hunks of Channel 5's Deal or No Deal were chosen to participate in the special edition of the game show, said most of the contestants.

Well, at least that was what most of them would like to believe.

Dressed in fitting black T-shirts and jeans, all the 18 men who were present for the interview at MediaCorp yesterday were no doubt head-turners.

Their height ranged from 1.74m to 1.92m, with 13 of them towering above 1.8m.

Eight of the contestants were absent because of other commitments.

While they had bulging biceps to boast of, most of them said they did not enjoy being labelled as hunks.

Businessman Christopher Phua, 29, said: "Hunk sounds so cheesy and cheap. It makes me feel like I'm some kind of man meat."

He added, half in jest: "I'm just a hunk of crap."

Law undergraduate Douglas Wong, 23, said that it is the "entire package", and not just muscles, that makes one a hunk.

"It's important how you carry yourself and react to situations," he added.

While some go to the gym regularly to keep in shape, others watch what they eat to ensure they don't put on unsightly flab.

Mr Wong revealed that he has male friends who take small weighing scales with them, so that they can weigh their food and make sure they do not over eat.

That, to him, is ridiculous.

"We should just eat whatever we want."

For student Ryan Pereira, 25, his smile is the X-factor.

But he quickly added, with a boyish grin: "It feels good to be called a hunk, though."

Student Fajr Rhers, 19, is unabashed about his physique, and said that all of them have the looks, body and height.

"If you don't have everything, you might as well go home and sleep," he said with a smile.

my paper took the liberty to choose the three hunkiest guys and singled out those who may have a little bit of catching up to do in the brawn department.

Catch the hunks in Channel 5's special edition of Deal or No Deal tomorrow and Thursday, 8.30pm.
