The rumour mill has gone into overdrive after several celebrity couples announced, hinted or didn't deny that they had marriage plans. FOONG WOEI WAN sifts through the wedding talk.
Happy couple: Hong Kong Heavenly Queen Kelly Chen, 35, and her boyfriend of 16 years, Hong Kong businessman Alex Lau, 34. He popped the question with a six-carat diamond ring - bought from her father's jewellery shop.
Wedding buzz: She has announced a big banquet - 50 tables - at the five-star InterContinental Hong Kong on Oct 2. Entertainer Eric Tsang will emcee.
She said she would not be asking her showbiz colleagues to attend because there are not enough tables. But Heavenly King Leon Lai, who starred with her in An Empress And The Warriors (2008), said he would show up.
Happy couple: Taiwanese supermodel-turned-entertainer Chiling Lid her family friend, Taiwanese bathroom equipment heir Scott Qiu, 34. She has said she wants to tie the knot next year.
Wedding buzz: She, her parents and brother set tongues wagging when they dined last month with the chairman of bridal store Sophia.
But she has denied that she is preparing for bridal bliss. Her assistant said Sophia just designed her dresses for the Cannes Film Festival.
Happy couple: Hong Kong actress Carina Lau, 42, and her beau of 19 years, Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai, 46. He talked about marriage in public this year.
Wedding buzz: Gossip has it the big day is: (a) in October, at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong (b) on July 21, in Bali, where they have booked a resort for a private party with friends (c) on Friday, at a venue chosen by Chinese-Thai soothsayer the White Dragon King. Apparently, the guru to stars such as Jackie Chan and Andy Lau will also act as a witness.
But Leung, who is making the press rounds for his new movie Red Cliff, insists he does not know when or where he will make an honest woman of Lau.
'If I knew everything, I'd be able to give you lottery numbers,' he said.
Happy couple: MediaCorp royalty Fann Wong, 37, and Christopher Lee, 36.
After about seven years with her, he proposed on the second day of Chinese New Year with a two-carat diamond ring.
Wedding buzz: First she said it would be a big bash, maybe early next year.
Then he said it would be two banquets, one in Singapore and the other in his native Malacca, as early as mid-2009 - and he should know, since he is planning the wedding.
There has been talk of a live telecast, but it is just talk for the time being.
