Huang Biren quits MediaCorp over pay

Veteran actress and multiple winner of local acting accolades, Huang Biren, has decided that the pay package being offered to renew her contract with MediaCorp is not attractive enough to make her stay on.

A New Paper report says that the veteran actress has left Mediacorp to become a full-time mother.

Biren told The New Paper that she was prepared to return to acting after three months of maternity leave, but Mediacorp did not offer her a salary package that she felt that she deserved.

She added that she did not ask to be paid like Zoe Tay or Fann Wong, but the packaged offered to her was not even close to what some of her colleagues got.

The 39-year-old actress gave birth to her daughter Janessa on 6 Mar, and she also has a son, Justin, 8, who is in Primary 2.

On coping with one less income, Biren told The New Paper that her husband's salary is enough to cover the family's expenses.
