Is Billy's cancer relapse for real?

Comments streaming in from the public in relation to popular deejay Billy Wang's self-prepared funeral has been negative.

Readers of Singapore's evening Chinese daily, LianHe WanBao, wrote to the paper to express doubt that his leukemia has returned. Some have also wondered if the popular media personality publicly announced his plans to style his own funeral in order to gain publicity for his new dance studio, Billy House, which is due to open next month.

One reader, Ya Ya, wrote: "While my heart goes out to Billy, why is it that the health exercises that he promotes has done nothing to help him at all?" The reader went on to question why Billy continued to take in cancer patients who signed up for his exercise and health classes.

But there are responses to these detractors.

Sembawang MP, Dr Lim Wee Kiak, said in an interview with the Chinese daily: "Very few people will use cancer to promote his career."

Joo Chiat MP, Mr Chan Soo Sen also added that there is no right or wrong about Billy's high-profile method to rally cancer sufferers. Meanwhile, supporters and fans of Billy have said that they do not wish to respond to comments from the readers as "they believe in Billy".

When LianHe WanBao attempted to get Billy's doctors to comment, the ex-deejay declined for them to comment as he was afraid of causing inconvenience to his doctors and their patients.

However, he did comment: "I won't use my fame to further my career."
