Li-lin's secret to looking fab

DRESSED in a fitting tank-top and spandex tights for the photo shoot with my paper on Tuesday, actress and television host Wong Li-lin's lithe figure belies the fact that she's gone through childbirth twice.

The yummy mummy has two kids - daughter Sage Cadence, four, and son Jonas Leif, two. The 35-year-old has been on a break from full-time work since her elder child was born, but that doesn't mean she isn't busy.

The multi-talented artiste - who is married to The Amazing Race Asia host Allan Wu - has three movies to her name and a slew of endorsement deals on her plate.

The athletic Fly Entertainment artiste also participated in the Osim Mini Triathlon 2006 and the 10km Women's category of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon in 2004.

Despite showing up for this interview with a cough and backache, she says that she couldn't be happier. my paper finds out why.

How do you manage to look so good?

A good attitude is important. If you look good but feel terrible, I think it will affect the way you are. Why I look good is because I'm happy with my kids and my family.

Being in my 30s helps. I think you're a lot more comfortable being the person you are, and what you expect from yourself.

And you understand your role in this world better.

How do you juggle work commitments and family?

I'm very selective about the work I take on and, right now, I accept them on a project basis. I'm working mostly on endorsement commitments at the moment.

At this juncture, my main priority is to be a part of my children's growing-up years.

What do you do with your kids?

I drive them to school, pick them up, bathe them, cook their meals and play with them. It's either me or Allan who's with them the whole day.

So you see all the domestic helpers in the park - and then you see Allan and me (laughs).

What do you think defines a perfect balance in life?

I think you must have solo time and social time.

Solo time means time to yourself or doing things for yourself; and social, for others - whether it's your friends or the community or your work.

Personally, I like to cook, travel and watch movies. I love learning things, like languages. And when I am asked, I always help out in charity drives and donation drives.

What do you like to eat?

I feel my meal is not complete if I don't have my vegetables.

But I have many indulgences. I love my Peking duck and Famous Amos cookies. I also eat only organic apples - such as Cox's Pippin, which is an English variety.

To me, food is not the enemy - your activity level is. If you coordinate your activity level with your food intake, you'll be able to eat what you want.

Let's say this was your last day on earth. What would you be doing?

Nothing different, really. I'll just get on with my day with my children and hang out with them. I certainly wouldn't be doing an interview (laughs cheekily). I'd definitely be playing with my family.
