National paddler Li Jiawei may be venturing into the film industry.
Chinese media reports that Chinese director Zhao Ben Shan is interested in casting the sports star in a movie next year.
Zhao, a well-known comedian and director in China reportedly said that he liked to watch her play table tennis. He feels that she will be a good actress due to her good height and figure, and thinks she possesses star quality.
Li was recognised by Chinese reporters when she visited the film set of "Mr Guandong", Zhao's comedy series in production.
She told reporters there that she is good friends with Singapore singer Meixin, who is starring in the series, and got to know the director when she was visiting her friend on set.
Li Jiawei is a fan of director Zhao and is open to the idea of appearing in Zhao's movie, but fears she may not be able to juggle acting with training for the 2012 Olympics, her studies as well as her upcoming wedding.
Her wedding, scheduled for next year, will be held in Beijing first, then Singapore. She says that she has many friends in Singapore as well, and which is why she will be holding a reception for them in Singapore.
She also intends to further her studies and says she may be applying to Peking University.
Since registering her marriage with her husband, who is eight years her senior, they have been living in an apartment in Beijing while their house is under construction.
When interviewed by Lianhe Wanbao, the sports woman appeared radiant, and said of her marriage: "Good, very smooth!".
