Bare beauties

It's not easy to be a beauty queen these days.

Faced with dropping viewership and more than its fair share of negative publicity that the show is no longer broadcast on national television, the search for Singapore's Miss Universe representative has continued despite the bad press.

Two Saturdays ago, the 16 finalists of Miss Singapore Universe 2008 were presented to the public.

The pageant hopefuls were again put through their paces at the preview show held at Royal Plaza on Scotts.

This time, event organisers were looking for a contestant who had confidence and flawless skin without the need to rely on make-up aids, to crown her Miss Beautiful Skin after the winner of the overall pageant is revealed.
