THERE are two things Stephanie Glasson wants you to know.
One, she doesn't take her clothes off at the drop of a hat. And two, she's not wild.
But who can blame the people who get these impressions?
She is Miss July 2004, a Playboy Playmate - and she is coming to Singapore, with two other Playmates, for the Forbidden Mansion party at Indochine on Saturday, as part of a lingerie fashion show.
Mr Michael Ma, the IndoChine Group CEO, said: 'We felt that it would make for a great party if we could mimic the infamous and legendary Playboy Mansion, complemented by some groovy music.'
Though Playboy is banned here, many Singaporeans will surely be well-acquainted with the Playmate name, which is the term given to the nude centrefold models in Hugh Hefner's notorious monthly men's magazine.
And what is a Playmate in the popular imagination than a person who is skimpily dressed (if at all)? And what of the tales, for example, of the infamous Playboy Mansion and Hefner's legendary hedonism?
The 32-year-old Glasson, who now lives in Virginia Beach in Virginia, US, said she has stayed in the guest house at the Playboy Mansion before.
'I've been to many parties there but nothing out of the ordinary, except hot, sexy, naked people everywhere,' she told The New Paper on Sunday in an e-mail interview.
Obviously, no one is hot, sexy and naked all the time - not even a Playmate.
Glasson, besides working for Playboy as a model and showing up at events, owns a decorating business on the east coast of the US.
And her daily life is fairly mundane.
The green-tea addict wakes up to a couple of cups of the stuff while surfing the Internet for world news.
In the afternoon, she sometimes works on decorating a condominium and has lunch with friends.
Evening is time to take her German Shepherds to the beach for some swimming and then to dinner cooked by her mum.
At night, she cycles along the beach with friends, stopping for drinks - if she's not working late decorating. If she is out of town on a Playboy assignment or visiting friends, she will be asleep.
She doesn't even have to hit the gym hard for her Playboy body.
The 1.7m-tall model, who weighs 52kg, said: 'It's all genetics for me. I was lucky in this life. I'm sure I will start exercising one day. I already eat healthily though.'
But being a Playmate is a vocation for life. There's no such thing as an ex-Playmate.
As Playboy assistant editor Rocky Rakovic told The New York Post: 'A Playmate is a Playmate forever.'
Nervous
Glasson's Playboy shoot was her first job as a model. Although hesitant at first when approached by a scout, she decided to go for a test shoot.
'I was really nervous because I had never shot before and never taken my clothes off in front of strangers, but it was very easy,' she said.
It was not quite so easy for her family.
'My mother was quite disappointed. She hung up on me when I told her,' Glasson said.
Her sisters weren't too pleased either.
'Some of them still aren't,' she said.
But her friends love it, she said. She signs autographs for them. And because she is a celebrity of sorts, her buddies get to enjoy certain perks.
She has even won her mother over, after she learnt the history of Playboy and that only 12 girls a year get to be Playmates.
But does Glasson have any regrets?
'No. I would do it all over again to have the experiences. I have some amazing friends all over the world because of Playboy. I would never regret it,' she said.
