KLANG, MALAYSIA - Mohd Abdul Sani Mohd Noor, 43, never dreamt he would get married as he was born disabled.

But the trainer at Bengkel Daya Klang home for the disabled in Bayu Perdana was smitten by his student Norita Muda, 45.

The couple, both in wheelchairs, were married in a simple ceremony which was joined by the other 57 residents of the home.

The home's band provided entertainment for the 150 guests, including Selangor Welfare Department director Adnan Abu Bakar and members of the home's visitors board.

'I never expected this day, getting married to someone whom I love dearly.

'Now, everything has changed. We believe we can make a good team,' said Sani who is a tailor.

Sani said he had been staying at the home since 1985 and had known Norita for 19 years.

'Our relationship did not start until six years ago. We are not sure how it happened.

'She is a kind but firm person and very responsible in whatever she does and all her strong points show in her neat sewing,' he said.

Norita said: 'We may not be as romantic as other couples by sending flowers and having candlelight dinners, but then again, he makes for me baju kurung or baju kebaya.'

The couple worked together to make three sets of clothes each for their wedding.

The function also saw the marriage of another pair of residents, Mohd Suhaidi Ismail and Azni Suzati Aziz.

Said Suhaidi: 'She is why my life is more meaningful now. I have more confidence and look forward to a better life.'

Bengkel Daya Klang manager Mohamad Nazip Baharuddin said the 26 staff and residents had been preparing for the double wedding for the past month.

He said the home would help the couples find houses so they could start a family.
