Japanese singer and actress Risako Sugaya made headlines recently when she released a solo photobook with pictures of herself last October, just six months shy of her 13th birthday.

The Berryz Koubou group member herself admitted in an interview with SANSPO.com that she 'had doubts at first about the photoshoot'.

One netizen said: 'She's just a child, but she is too sexy for her age because the other teenage celebrities have not been shown in public in bikinis.

'To me, she (sic) seems more like pornography.'

Also making headlines is Guo Bolu, a 10-year-old model from Dalian, China, who has been hailed on the Internet as China's prettiest child star.

She was recently offered a 20-million yuan ($4m) contract by a Korean company, but her parents turned it down and took her to Japan for her studies.

Bolu, who has acted on some TV shows, became hot property after she participated in an international fashion festival in Dalian in 2003.

She reportedly commands 100,000 yuan for a fashion show, and she's apparently worth more than many top models in China.

But some Chinese fans blasted her on the Internet for acting older than age and that she will merely 'become somebody's plaything 10 years later'.
