The race for bone health

Orchard Road became a no-man's land, when two lanes were closed yesterday morning for over 3,500 women to run the distance of one mile from Dhoby Ghaut MRT station to Orchard MRT station.

Aimed at raising bone health and Osteoporosis, Anlene Orchard Mile witnessed not only first-time runners and walkers, but also experienced and elite runners, mothers and their young ones participating.

In the spirit of promoting an active and healthy lifestyle, the sporting event also took this moment to raise funds for the Osteoporosis Society of Singapore.

"It's very heartening to see so many women participating in this running event.

"I hope that sports will continue to resonate in the daily lives of all women in Singapore, regardless of their age and become very much of their daily lifestyle decision," said Ms Rakel Liew, Deputy Director for Sports Business of Singapore Sports Council.
