Mum's words of wisdom

'Dresses are big this season. Roomy, voluminous styles paired with ballet flats are great for everyday wear. Leggings are recommended if your child likes to pull at your skirts. Wear big oversized shirts or tees - tucked into high-waisted skirts or pants for a sexy new take, or tucked out but cinched at the waist with a belt and skinny jeans for a poetic look. Both styles help to hide Mummy bulges and are affordable and easy to pull off'

Antonia Chang, 32, fashion editor of Female magazine

'I wear my own designs most of the time. They're mainly in black, which means food stains don't show much. My Kelly multi-purpose knit top can be worn in 10 ways and its stretchy fabric allows great movement when carrying a child or folding a stroller.

A great hat pumps up an entire outfit and saves me time from styling my hair. I get mine mostly from vintage stores overseas'

'A fashion essential is that big, fashionable, oversized bag that you can keep anything and everything in. Sunglasses are a must too. And always a little make-up to look fresh. I find myself shopping at mid-range fashion stores like Pull And Bear, River Island, Zara and Mango. Very versatile and cheap. Runway trends are so not wearable, the exception being leggings and a short skirt. That works well'

Mary Grosvenor (above), 30, stay-at-home Mum of 19-month-old Isabella
