ONE would think the easiest piece of jewellery to buy is a wedding ring. It's simple, round and does not need embellishment. Unlike an engagement ring, where you have to look at the cut, colour, clarity, and carat of the stones - and then the setting - to match your budget.
But the simplest things in life are sometimes the hardest to find. Like that ubiquitous white shirt.
Let me be the one: Love & Co has more than 1,000 engagement and wedding rings in its design library. Left to right: $1,098, $2,398, $5,798, and $1,318.
Couples who want to show their commitment to each other now have it easier, however. Love & Co, a new jewellery company, specialises in rings that signify commitment.
'We're here to meet the needs of couples. The wedding or engagement band is one of the most important pieces of jewellery they will wear,' says Daniel Lim, vice-president of Love & Co, a company under Soo Kee Jewellery.
He is careful to point out that Love & Co isn't just about wedding bands or engagement rings, but 'jewellery specially handcrafted for couples who wish to express their most intimate feelings'.
Perfect partners: Love & Co's Promise Wedding Bands. The ring on the left is for the groom ($788) while the one for the bride comes with a diamond ($1,008).
Stuck on you: Four rings, top to bottom: $918, $668, $698, $1,008. The ring on the right is priced at $768.
A typical jewellery store might have 30 to 50 engagement and wedding rings, but Love & Co has more than 1,000 in its design library, utilising gold, platinum, diamonds and gems. And then there's the 'bespoke' element, where couples can specify what they want in their rings.
Its signature wedding ring is the Promise Wedding Band in white gold, marked with the designer's signature as a stamp of authenticity. The ring has soft rounded strokes and sturdy firm lines.
