From SHERINI PILLAI :

My mum...... There are just too many things to say about her.

She is an extraordinary woman who has been my pillar of strength.

Now even though I'm 29, she still treats me like I'm 10! She nurtures & consoles me when I'm feeling down.

Being a single parent, not once has she made me & my bro feel like we lack anything. Now it's our turn to give it back to her.

I'm truly blessed to have a mother like her. She is my inspiration, my idol, my best friend.

From Sherri Lee Singh :

My mum has a beautiful name for a really extraordinary woman. She is more than a mum. She is my best friend, my mentor and someone whom I can always trust for good advice.

To top it all, mum is an excellent cook, baker and a connoiseur of sorts in making problems simply evaporate into thin air.

Never believe that a mum's work is easy. but my mum makes it appear so and still spend quality time with me and my little sister, continually sharing with us what true living is all about.

Mum's famous line "Life is not about breathing, but living to full bloom that your scent spreads, enriching the lives of others close by."

I love my mum and she is my role model.

Her name - Anna Lee Singh- and I am thankful, and takes tremendous pride in the fact that I carry her surname

Anna - meaning the "graceful one" and she has indeed tremendous poise and grace.

From Chua Hock Thiam:

My mum is nothing special... in fact very ordinary, she never went to school and was from sandakan, east malaysia.

She came to Singapore alone where she met and married my father when she was 16. She became a mum at 17 and was a widow at the age of 36.

She has no family besides us. Although it was tough, she still slogged for us three siblings.

She became a 'mother' to my two nephews when they were little, after my sibling's marriage crumbled.

We are not well off, but just a simple ordinary family with no luxuries like a car or holidays. She seldom goes out because she has no close friends, but she is happy with the TV for companion and of course, us.

My mum hardly rocks but she is a rock in our life.

From Lim Boon Hee:

It has been seven years since mummy left us. The acute pain of her sudden departure has never quite healed.

The memories of my beautiful mother are still vivid in my mind today. My thoughts of her are never far away. I still remember when she would carry me in her arms and allow me to play with her toes.

Those memories evoke a heightened sense of what words cannot describe - an unconditional protective love that only a mother is capable of giving.

Mum never complained despite having to look after the five of us. She was tireless in taking care of our many needs.

I learned the true meaning of unconditional pure love from mummy dearest. Although she was never a good disciplinarian, but the constant love she showered equally on us all helped us to blossom into useful adults - a school administrator, a doctor, a Shangri-la Hotel General Manager in China and two fine teachers.

On Mother's Day I can only thank mummy in spirit and heart, for without her there will not be me. I can never repay her this life for all that she has done for me. Happy Mother's Day Siew Hong!

From Mrs Lynette Tan-Soon:

A loud and strong voice with demanding tone to my kids... Yvette... go and bathe... Gabriel... go and do your homework etc. My mum, who is now a grandma, is a fantastic mother to my siblings and myself.

At 23, she gave birth to her first-born - myself, and started her "career" as a homemaker cum tuition teacher. She helped to supplement the family income. My dad went overseas for further studies at that time and mum stayed home to take care of me and my newborn brother.

When we were young, we used to sit by the table as she teaches her table of students from different levels. They are usually neighbours or relatives that needed a tutor.

With a strong and determined zeal to see us succeed in life, she painstakingly continued to give tuition, even going to other homes when we were older so as to earn more for the family.

My dad has since left us and she had to shoulder the responsibility of bringing us up alone. She persevered to give us the best. Never once did we feel short-changed.

An unforgettable moment of mine was when I failed my A levels. She told me that if I wanted to go the university so badly, she will support me even if it is going to take years for me to complete my course. Those simple words gave me so much warmth and encouraged me to go on. I managed to get into the University after a year.

Now a grandma, she is busy learning and cooking delicious food for the whole family. A good example of learning all the way till old.

Most of her time now is spent with my kids, cooking, watching television and also reading the Bible - her source of support.

She is certainly the best mother that any one can find ...and definitely loved by all of us in the family.

Thank you, mum... you are simply the best!
