Guess what Rihanna bought here

EH, eh, she didn't buy an umbrella. It was jewellery that R&B star Rihanna bought at Ngee Ann City yesterday. And while we have no idea how much she bought, we do know that the bling was from the Cartier Love collection. One piece was a Love Bracelet, said to be for lovers. The managing director of the Cartier shop said the bracelet's two ends have to be tightened by small screws for it to fit snugly round the wrist. 'Rihanna bought the yellow gold version for a loved one,' Mr Christopher Kilaniotis told The New Paper. It costs between $6,000 and $8,000. The 20-year-old R&B star also picked up something else equally intriguing: An accompanying accessory called the Love Screw Pendant. At a price of $2,410, the pendant is essentially a golden tool used to 'unlock' the Love Bracelet. Hmm, a Love Bracelet and a Love Screw Pendant? Something for rumoured boyfriend and duet partner Chris Brown perhaps? A smiling Mr Kilaniotis wouldn't say. 'No comment. We can't even say for sure if it's for a lover,' he said. Never mind. Rihanna, who performed at the Singapore Indoor stadium on Thursday night, was at the Orchard Road shopping centre at 4.55pm yesterday, accompanied by a female companion and a minder. Before this reporter could get close, her minder barked: 'No signatures!' Advertising & promotions executive Shirley Tan explained that Rihanna wanted to stay incognito because she was here for some 'personal shopping'. It was a wonder how the tall, sexy singer, dressed in jeans and a short white tank top, managed to evade attention. But it was a short walk from the taxi stand to the second-storey entrance of Cartier, and she slipped in unnoticed. The staff welcomed her with bright smiles at the door, before leading her in. For the next hour, she signed autographs, posed for pictures with staff, and shopped. Rihanna has been involved with Cartier's Love collection since she attended the launch of the new Love Charity Bracelet on 19 Jun this year in New York. From that day onwards, 10 per cent of all sales from the entire Love collection will benefit partner organisations, one of which is The Believe Foundation, a charity for children that Rihanna founded in 2006. Said Mr Kilaniotis: 'She paid for her items in full, so 10 per cent of that will go to Believe.' He did not disclose the full amount she paid, but said the star 'was warm, friendly and very good to everyone'. The Love collection, launched in New York in 1969, has been worn by stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Janet Jackson, Sarah Jessica Parker and director Spike Lee. After Rihanna was done with her purchases at Cartier, she headed towards the other shops for a little more shopping. Said Mr Kilaniotis: 'Rihanna loves Singapore, and she loves the shopping here.'
