The Shape run is still two months away but women in Singapore have taken the early-bird call to heart, as all 6,000 spots in the women-only competitive run have been snapped up.

Since registration opened on June 22, over 4,000 women have signed up for the 6,000 available places in this year's Shape Run in just under a fortnight. Over 500 women registered overnight. To date, there are no more available spots. The run takes place on Sept 9.

Ms Elisabeth Gwee, editor of SHAPE, says: "We're thrilled that so many women have responded so quickly and enthusiastically. It goes to show the impact that SHAPE has had on motivating women to lead a more active lifestyle."

Runners can choose to complete a 5km or 10km route that starts at the Esplanade and winds through Shenton Way. The run will cater to both new and seasoned runners.

Runner's Kits worth $870 each will be given out on the day of the race. These kits consist of a SHAPE sports bag, Nike t-shirt, spa vouchers, yoghurt, yoga trial classes, fragrances and many other freebies.

The winner of the 10km run will receive a $1,000 cash prize and over $11,000 worth of products. For the 5km category, the winner gets a $500 cash prize and $7500 worth of products. Prizes will also be given to participants who come in 2nd to 10th placing for both categories of the run (5km/10km).
