China's current blue-eyed boy of fashion Qiu Hao (top picture) makes his Singapore debut with his Spring/Summer 2008 collection, Something Growing. The "to-thepoint" pieces showcase his unique sense of aesthetics: Fluid lines, stark shapes and immaculate cutting, not to forget his signature knot designs and strict palette of six colours (white, black, beige, gold, silver and blue),bring forth the craftsmanship. The unusual water shrinkage of lambskin, for example, makes the fabric "sturdy to the eyes yet light to the touch".
Exclusive to the Singapore Fashion Festival will be 30 pieces inspired by Mr Qiu's vision of "confident women traipsing through the garden city of Singapore".
He says: "I drew from my background in architecture and interior design to create a series of jackets that are angular and accented with flowing leaves."
